ONE TOWNSHIP | THREE MONTHS | 11 CRUSADES
WHAT IS IT?
WOW ALEX was a dynamic, multi-crusade initiative targeting the township of Alexandra, which is located in Johannesburg, South Africa. Spanning over 800 hectares, it is home to hundreds of thousands of inhabitants and is notorious for violence, addiction, and overcrowding. WOW ALEX is an acronym for Wave On Wave Alexandra. Our objective was to cause wave on wave of salvation, deliverance, and revival to move across this tormented community! Eleven crusades were held—each over a minimum of three days—beginning in early February and concluding in mid-April.
HOW WILL IT WORK?
Each weekend, a different section of Alex witnessed its own tailored crusade, ensuring easy accessibility for all residents, transport being a massive problem faced on account of poverty and criminal activity. Some of the crusades were held among the dwellings in an inviting, open space. Others took place on a soccer field, school ground, or in a community hall. Sixteen local evangelists, well-known to In His Name and most trained by the ministry, collaborated over several weeks, ensuring that relationships were forged between the pastors of Alex and evangelists with whom they can work together moving forward. The schools were ministered in and aggressive street evangelism campaigns conducted.
